These alphabetical listings of Shetland Sheepdogs, certified by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) during the specified quarter, are provided to the fancy so that by conscientious breeding, the crippling disease of hip dysplasia can be eliminated, or at least controlled, in our wonderful breed.
These lists contain all the Canadian dogs as well as the non-tattooed or not permanently identified American dogs. Only permanently identified dogs with AKC registration numbers and name spellings that match the American Kennel Club's database, are published in the AKC Show Awards and included on Official AKC Pedigrees.
These lists also include all titles earned from the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA) based upon my extensive data bases built to do specialized pedigree research for ASSA and the fancy. The spelling of a dog's name has been verified against the AKC and CKC Stud Books whenever possible and therefore may not agree with the information supplied by OFA.
Effective January 1, 2001
- the OFA Number has been modified as follows:
- The 'T' has been replaced by 'PI' to indicate 'Permanently Identified" either with a tattoo or micro-chip.
- The code 'NOPI' has been added to indicate that 'No Permanent Identification' information was supplied at the time of Certification.
- Owners can now select that test results be:
- Open (abnormal results are public) or
- Closed (abnormal results are not available)
- The 'T' has been replaced by 'PI' to indicate 'Permanently Identified" either with a tattoo or micro-chip.
Effective January 1, 2004
- Preliminary Hip and Elbow results are available for dogs tested after that date IF the owner selected the Open database.
- two additional criteria must be met in order to publish the preliminary results:
- 1. The dog must at least 12 months of age at the time of radiograph
- 2. The dog must be permanently identified via microchip or tattoo
